KAC Box Lacrosse

ABOUT The record-breaking ice hockey champion KAC is the first ice hockey club in Austria to have its own lacrosse section. Lacrosse has been played in Carinthia, Austria since 2004 (Carinthian Cardinals & Carinthian Celtics), now KAC will break new ground and make the indoor version of lacrosse popular in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Austria, lead by KAC Box Lacrosse, will be competing at the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship. In preparation for the tournament, organizers of the team are accepting applications from eligible players ages sixteen (16) to twenty (20) who are interested in traveling to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for a once in a lifetime experience. Players must be born on or between January 1, 2001 – December 31, 2005. Therefore, a player must not be or be turning twenty one (21) years of age in 2021. Interested players must be considered heritage eligible, as defined by Austria, which includes a parent/step-parent/guardian, grandparent, and/or great grandparent being born in Austria or of Austrian decent. Contributions and conditions of residency (living abroad) and/or education (college/university) also qualify players to compete with Austria. Please use the contact form below if you are interested in wearing the Austrian triband in international indoor junior lacrosse competition. 

Inclusion on the team and competing at the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will directly contribute to the growth of box lacrosse in Austria. The IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship is an immersive box lacrosse experience with, at least, six (6) full international indoor games including Round-Robin, Playoff, and Medal Games. 

Accommodations and transportation to-and-from the airport will be provided. Players will play and have the opportunity to attend all games of the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Bell MTS Place is a 15,000 seat world class facility and home to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL) and Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Open to Austria born citizen with a valid passport or any player who qualifies under the eligibility requirement conditions. Players must be born on or between January 1, 2001 – December 31, 2005, between sixteen (16) to twenty (20), and not be or be turning twenty one (21) years of age in 2021.

Submission of this Interest to Participate form does not guarantee a prospective player a spot on the Austria 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship roster or serve as a reservation. Once an Interest to Participate form is submitted an Austrian staff member will contact and provide the prospective player with further information and instructions. Qualified prospective players are encouraged to complete the Interest to Participate form immediately as the selection process will be expedited to prepare for the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship.
