2022 WJLC Game 1 Preview - Poland vs Israel

The 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will open with a matchup between Poland and Israel at 5:00PM CT at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. 

In 2019, the last IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship to feature a full lineup of countries, Poland and Israel finished 6th and 4th, respectively. 

During the 2019 World Juniors Poland and Israel met in the crossover playoff game where the winner would advance to the semi-finals to play against Canada. While Poland lead 4-1 into the second quarter, Israel went on two lengthly runs. First, scoring 8 unanswered goals in the 2nd Quarter and again scoring 9 unanswered goals in the 3rd Quarter; ultimately winning the game by a final score of 18-8

While Poland bookended the crossover game outscoring Israel 6-2 in the 1st and 4th Quarters, collectively, it would be Israel's dominant goal run performances in the two middle frames that propelled them to the victory, advancing them the 2019 semi-finals. 

The game will be a fresh start for both teams will as Poland and Israel return only one player between the two teams - veteran defender Duncan Carte
