All Roads Lead to Mississauga for 2019 World Junior Lacrosse Championship

Canadian Lacrosse League Relocated 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship to Paramount Fine Foods Centre and Mississauga, Ontario

MISSISSAUGA, ON – The world’s best junior-aged box lacrosse players will be competing for gold at the 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship from August 6-11, 2019 in Mississauga, ON at Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL), in partnership with the Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL), have secured the 4th edition of the international tournament to be held in Mississauga, Ontario with the cooperation of Sports Tourism Toronto/Mississauga and Paramount Fine Foods Centre. 

“Establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with our host venue is essential for the immediate and future success of the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship." said Chris Fox, Executive Director Canadian Lacrosse League and Tournament Chair 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship. "Thankfully, we remained in contact with the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and Sports Tourism Toronto/Mississauga, both of whom have been tremendously accommodating." Fox added. "Their support helped ease our transition and bring an international sports event to Mississauga this August." 

The 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will now be held at the 5,420 seat Paramount Fine Foods Centre, home of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Mississauga Steelheads, National Basketball Association G-League (NBA G-League) 905 Raptors, and Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Mississauga Metro Stars.

The IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship is a legacy event in Canada designed to establish the foundation for the development of major junior lacrosse across the country. Legacy plans for the potential profits from the event are being established to provide support for grassroots lacrosse program across Canada, as well as the Canadian Lacrosse League. A portion of the profits will also be used by the IIJL to develop box lacrosse internationally.
