After an eye-opening experience against Canada, Australia had less than 19 hours to regroup and face a fresh and hungry Israel team Day 2 of the 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

Israel’s Matthew Huggett contributed on three (3) of his team’s first 4 Goals which helped Israel carry a 4-0 lead over Australia into the  2nd Quarter. Australia’s Aaron Currie broke the Israel  run at 10:47 of the 2nd. With only one (1) other Goal being scored in the 2nd Quarter by Jonathen Endicott for Israel, Australia went on a 4 Goal run of their own that extended 11:46 into the 4th Quarter.

With the game tied for the first time since the opening faceoff the Israel trio of Brenden Lundy, Matthew Huggett, and Jonathan Endicott combined for two (2) more Israel goals, for a 8-7 lead.

With 5 Minutes left in the 4th Quarter Israel would be penalized with three (3) 2 Minute Minor Penalties at three (3) different times. Australia’s Hamish Mathwin scored on the first power play, assisted by Adam Thistlethwaite. Taking his turn hitting the back of the net, Thistlethwaite and Mathwin would link up again along with a touch from Braedon O'Brien

With the game tied and Australia back on the power play, Adam Thistlethwaite proved to be clutch in the 4th Quarter scoring his second goal (2G, 3A), giving Australia the lead and securing his spot as Player of the Game for Australia. Israel’s Player of the Game was given to Matthew Huggett (3G, 3A).
