Canada Announces Four Regional Combines in Preparation for 2019 WJLC

VANCOUVER, BC - Building on the success of the Regional Combines held in 2018 the Canadian Lacrosse League is excited to announce four (4) Regional Combines that will take place in January of 2019 in preparation for the 2019 World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

“Last year's Regional Combines provided our staff with several great opportunities to work with players across Canada and helped us prepare for the World Junior Lacrosse Championship navigating the unique challenges of assembling our roster during a busy time of year,” said Canada General Manager, Chris Fox.

Canada will hold four (4) Regional Combines, one (1) during each Saturday in January. Regional Combines will start on the West Coast and will reach as far east as Ontario. The British Columbia Regional Combine will be held on Saturday January 5, 2019 in Langley, BC. The Alberta Regional Combine will be held on Saturday January 12, 2019 in Calgary, AB. The Saskatchewan Regional Combine will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 in Saskatoon, SK. The Ontario Regional Combine will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 in Six Nations.

Notable 2018 Canada players who attended Regional Combines include Hunter Aggus, Ethan Riggs, and 2018 Alternate Captain Jordan Trottier. "Being able to work with and build relationships with players prior to the World Junior Lacrosse Championship was vital in our ability to win Gold in 2018" Fox added. "Jordan Trottier is a perfect example of a player who made an impact at the Ontario Regional Combine establishing himself early as a leader and progressively as part of our leadership core in Saskatoon."

Interested players are asked to submit a Request for Participation form for the specific Regional Combine they would like to attend; British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Each Regional Combine will be limited to forty (40) different players, thirty six (36) runners and four (4) goaltenders. Players must be born on or between January 1, 1999 – December 31, 2003 to qualify and participate in the 2019 World Junior Lacrosse Championship. The Regional Combine experience will include athletic testing prior to lacrosse specific drills. Athletic testing will provide players with a benchmark and ranking amongst the other 160 players participating. Canada staff will then pace players through lacrosse specific drills, culminating with a full-game controlled scrimmage with referees under international rules.
