Casey Powell Named to United States Coaching Staff for 2022 WJLC

CHARLOTTE, NC — US Indoor Lacrosse (USIL) is pleased to announce that Casey Powell will join the United States coaching staff, lead by Head Coach Oliver Marti, in preparation for the 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.

"I am honored to once again be representing the United States and join US Indoor as a coach, I'm excited to get the process started," said Powell. "We've got an impressive pool of players to choose from, I'm confident we'll assemble a group that can compete for gold."

Casey Powell is an accomplished lacrosse player, considered by many to be one of the sport’s best ever. Powell first represented the United States playing box lacrosse with USIL as part of the 2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship (WILC) in Prague, CZ. Powell also played at the 2015 WILC in Syracuse/Onondaga, NY, with the United States finishing with a bronze medal at both championships.

"Casey is the right man at the right time. His professional record speaks for itself. His loyalty and commitment to his country is more than self-evident and his success as a leader of men is a part of who he is," said USIL President and United States General Manager Graham D'Alvia. "I am excited and look forward to the process of building a championship team with Casey."

A 4-Time All American and 2-Time National Player of the Year, Casey Powell played 15 years of professional lacrosse in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and National Lacrosse League (NLL) and was the first American born player to be named MVP in the NLL. He has been named to the MLL All-Decade Team, National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and US Lacrosse 2017 Hall of Fame. With the help of his two younger brothers, he launched Powell Lacrosse, which designs, produces and  manufactures the world’s best lacrosse sticks.
