CLL Renews TSN Partnership to Broadcast 2022 WJLC
WINNIPEG – The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL), Canada's major junior lacrosse league, is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year every game of the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship (WJLC) will broadcast live on TSN, Canada’s Sports Leader, to TSN Direct subscribers through its live streaming digital platforms, TSN.ca and the TSN app.
The broadcast partnership between the CLL and TSN includes the exclusive Canadian distribution rights of the 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, taking place August 8-14, 2022 at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, MB, with the ability for TSN to air games live on traditional linear television.
"We are very excited for the opportunity to work with TSN again and bring the 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship to millions of sports fans." said Chris Fox, President, CLL. “This year's broadcasts will also serve as a platform for the CLL to introduce our league to Canadians coast-to-coast-to-coast." added Fox.
Viewership for Game 1 of the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, which aired live on TSN2, saw 152k sports fans tune-in to a modified cumulative three-game series championship pitting Canada East against Canada West. Last year's championship, held during the pandemic, was played in a controlled environment, with no fans, in a week-long bubble.
The 2022 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will return to its regular format featuring six countries; Australia, Canada, Haudenosaunee, Israel, Poland, and the United States. Teams will compete in two round-robin groups, with the teams finishing first in each group advancing to the semi-finals, while the second and third place teams in each group will cross-over to see which nation advances to the semi-finals.
