Iroquois Announce First Tryout Date in Akwesasne

AKWESASNE - All Indigenous lacrosse players who are interested in trying out for Iroquois and competing at the 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will have an opportunity to compete in front of Iroquois staff on April 13, 2019 from 11:00AM - 3:00PM at A'nowara'ko:wa Arena ( The Turtle Dome) in Akwesasne. 

"Players from the Akwesasne community were a very important part of our team at last year's World Junior Lacrosse Championship." said Iroquois President/General Manager Gewas Schindler. "Their talent and leadership were a big part of bringing our team together in the short time we had together last year." Added Schindler about the Akwesasne players. 

Players are asked to please bring all equipment used during league play, a practice jersey, and shoes adequate for turf (as pictured above). "We're looking forward to building our roster and getting an earlier start this year," said Schindler. "Having multiple tryouts helps us get ready for 2019 and helps us see younger players for future World Juniors; looking forward to getting started, Nya; weh." Additional tryouts in other communities will be announced in the following weeks.
